Our Story

In 1955 Rich and June Gutwein opened one of the first carvel stores in ocean county on RT 37 east and King Street Toms River NJ, after 10 years they invented the famous “Richie bar” and dropped the franchise becoming Rich’s Ice Cream.

65 years later, grandson and third generation Hunter Gutwein keeps the tradition alive in two locations, supplying our customers the best quality in homemade ice cream crafted with recipes handed down through the generations.

At the Original Rich’s Ice Cream, we take pride in always crafting premium products in house to bring you, our customers, the best experience with each visit.
